21.06.24                 Sunflowers

The song "Sunflowers" is about growth and the difficulty and beauty of transformation. I wrote it after a short, intense relationship during which I wanted to re-discover parts of myself. I love change, and it's a natural part of life. We all seek environments where we can bloom to the fullest, and I think it's beautiful that we can give each other the space to do so.

I wrote this song about three years ago and always knew it had to be my first single. The song symbolizes my journey to becoming comfortable with who I am and what I want to show to the world. This includes gathering the confidence to call myself an artist and fully committing to my art. I see this song as the seed of my project. It's planted now, and I'm really excited to see how it will grow.

The artwork on the right is a collaboration with my dear friend and talented artist, Ella Eckersley. It features a handwritten lyric sheet with two dancing sunflowers, printed on high-quality giclée paper. These prints are available for purchase at my live shows or by request via email or instagram for €20 (excluding shipping). â€‹â€‹

Sunflowers | lyrics

She was in a state of mind
To seek everything she dreamed of
She thought she’d met the love of her life
But her heart did not believe her

Sunflowers grow fast if the sun shines on their leaves

Old enough to see it
Too young to feel it
I don’t belong here anymore

Cause this is how sunflowers grow
This is how sunflowers grow

She was at a point in time
To seek all of what she needed
So she could do whatever she liked
So her colour starts revealing

Sunflowers grow fast
If the sun shines on their leaves
Sunflowers don’t last
If their weather changes

Old enough to see it
Too young to feel it
I don’t belong here anymore
Old enough to reach it
Too young to hold it
I gave up everything before

Cause this is how sunflowers grow
Cause this is how sunflowers grow
Cause this is how sunflowers grow
Cause this is how sunflowers grow

21.06.24                 Lost

The song 'Lost' is about the messy emotions that come with falling in and out of love.

It describes the beautiful yet chaotic confusion that can completely overwhelm you, making you feel lost. When someone turns out to be different from your expectation or when a relationship ends for whatever reason, it can be hard to understand exactly why. Often we hold on to the idealized image we wanted to see and it is hard to accept, and remember, why it exactly ended.

With this song I wanted to reflect that initial excitement of falling in love, that butterfly feeling, mixed together with the underlying silence and sadness of a broken relationship. The repetitive melody reflects the repetitive thinking and underlying restlessness that I was feeling. It slowly builds up to a more rocky drop which represents the chaos of it, like a release after accepting that you lost control. The videoclip visualizes all those stages too, starting with a 'dream' turning into a confusing nightmare, searching for the right answers to wake up. â€‹â€‹â€‹

Lost | lyrics

When nothing really matters
When it storms outside
I’ll sing this song for you
And when I’m feeling better
Under clear blue sky
It seems like nothing new

It got me feeling

oh, lost
Makes me believe I’m

oh, lost

There’re days I read your letter
Cause it burns inside
And I need to feel the truth
Your words to keep me present,
but they come alive,
my heart still flies to you

Oh, I’m alone
I’m wondering if you,
did you find your home?

A tree so full of lemons,
but the juice inside
it never tastes like you
This bitter sweet like pressure
makes the butterflies
believe it’s summer too

oh lost
oh lost

The butterflies are lost
The butterflies are lost
Do you believe in love?
I remember you never did so anyway

oh lost
oh lost

A tree so full of lemons,
but the juice inside
it never taste like you
This bitter sweet like pressure
makes the butterflies
believe its summer too

oh lost
oh lost
oh lost

13.09.24                 Lights Down

The song ‘Lights Down’ is about a fight I’ve been having with myself for many years now. I feel like my body is not able to keep up with what my mind wants to do and then I’m crashing before I realize I had to turn my lights down. I’ve always had a hard time protecting my energy and I just want to be able to shine bright, wherever I am. Somehow, I still refuse to take a step back, even though I know very well that when I don’t protect my energy, I suffer. For me, this means feeling burned out, experiencing physical pain, anxiety and emotional outbursts. I always think I should be able to do it all in life and I get so frustrated when I see limits. I wrote this song to myself, in a moment of pain and frustration and I guess it’s here now to give my future self a warning.  ðŸŒ˜ This track has a heavier yet softer feel, with a beautiful violin that adds a touch of vulnerability, making it different from my previous singles.

Lights Down | lyrics

I follow the waves as they go down

As I float under the sun

You come in and push me under

Where sunflowers grow

Where their leaves flow with the wind

You light, then thunder

And I promised when you would arrive

The stars give a sign

My lights gave a little too much light again

You know that who’s playing with fire

needs to get burned

And it hurts even more time than the first time

Oh oh oh

Oh oh oh

My head plays a song

While my toes dance in my shoes

In case you wonder

Why I’m staring at the wall

How do people cope with these things

My thoughts come and go

And they make the time fly away

Cause dreaming is great, but I need more numbers

The stars gave a sign

My lights gave a little too much light again

You know you’ve been playing with fire

And now you got burned

And it hurts, even more than the first time

Lights down

Lights down

Lights down

Lights down

Lights down

Lights down

So I follow the waves as they go down

And I float under the sun

25.10.24                 Not About You

The title track of my debut EP — which in a way serves as an act of justice to myself. I spent much of my life trying to meet others’ expectations. From a young age I worked as a model in the fashion industry and I was unaware of my own boundaries and dreams. During COVID, I hit a breaking point, which opened a period of self-discovery through music, writing, and redefining my style. Creating this EP became about showing who I truly am, without outside influences.

During that time, I kept writing about a feeling of freedom — something I only briefly felt until I realized that true freedom is accepting imperfection. Striving for perfection for others is a waste of time. Not About You was born from this realization, which has been the greatest lesson I’ve learned in the past years.

With this song, my debut EP is now complete and available on all streaming platforms.

Thank you for listening.

Not About You | lyrics

I‘ve been waiting

Been waiting so long

I’m impatient

Why sleep while living?

What’s living then for?

Now I wait patiently

So glad I am with me for always

While away I transform

You can wait while I’m gone

but it’s not about you anymore

A cocoon full of love

So my body gets soft

No it’s not about you anymore

Not about you

Sun gives me color

I am my own daughter

I hold my own hand

It tingles my skin

We end, I begin

Put my toes in the sand

A world full of water

I’m drinking her blood

I breathe with her lungs

I trust in her waves

I float on her fingers

She knows where I’m going

While away I transform

You can wait while I’m gone

but it’s not about you anymore

A cocoon full of love

So my body gets soft

No it’s not about you anymore

While away I transform

You can wait while I’m gone

but it’s not about you

Because you had your time

Now I got to have mine

No, it’s not about you anymore

Not about you

Not about you

Not about you
